Battle of Thermopylae

During the Persian invasion of Greece of 480 to 479, Xerxes led the Persian army to the Pass of Thermopylae. The king of Sparta, Leonids, stopped the Persians for two days there until the Persians used a secret pass to surround and defeat the Spartans.

The Persians were later defeated by the Athenian navy and the Persians returned home.
