Magna Carta

  1. On June 15,1215, King John of England and English Barons signed the “Great Charter”. It basically set limits on Royal Authority and stated that individuals have rights.
  2. It was originally written on a dried sheepskin. There are 4 copies remaining.
  3. It failed to stop a war between King John and the Barons and was largely a failure at the time, but is still recognized as a guide for modern rights and democracy.
