Mount Everest

  1. It is located on the border of China and Nepal.
  2. At 29,029 ft, it is the highest point above the earth’s surface. Mauna Kea is taller, but a lot of it is under the oceans surface, so it’s not considered the tallest.
  3. It was discovered by George Everest in 1841.
  4. It grows 4 mm a year.
  5. 1974 is considered a maiden year. This is because nobody tried to climb it that year.
  6. There are many frozen bodies along the path up.
