Prohibition occurred between 1920 and 1933 with the 18th starting and the 20th amendment abolishing it.
A lot of people did not like it, the State of Maryland didn’t even enforce it. At first, consumption of alcohol went down, but increased as people started to turn on the law.
People used ingenious ways to smuggle booze like shooting torpedoes filled with it. One person poked needle holes into eggs emptied them and then refilled them with booze.
Some smugglers and distillers would wear cow shoes to mislead the law. These were shoes with hooves on them to leave cow tracks on the mud or snow.
