Prague’s “Old Town Astronomical Clock” was built in 1410, fifty two years before Columbus discovered America. Legend has it that the town leaders had one of the designers blinded, so he couldn’t design another clock for another town. He then broke it, so it didn’t work for a long time.
Every hour windows open to reveal different characters, including death, the 12 apostles and others. It shows the date and time and the position of the sun and moon.
It has worked flawlessly for centuries and survived the Nazis.
