1. Boomerangs have been around for over 5,000 years and were first extensively recorded in 1822.
  2. In hunting, they were used to circle prey to mimic a predator bird as the hunter made bird noises. This would confuse the prey so they could spear it.
  3. They can fly 100 mph and stay in the air for up to 17 minutes.
  4. One boomerang flew 160 yards and then returned to the thrower.
  5. There are right handed and left handed boomerangs.
